Hi friends,
How are you going with all the doom and gloom happening around the world?
It’s easy to get distressed with all the suffering and uncertainty that is happening in the world.
Are you or friends you know getting more anxious, stressed and overwhelmed?
This reminds me of the 3 powerful strategies that Stanford University discovered when researching how Tony Robbins was able to change so many people’s lives so consistently and sustainably!
They discovered he has them -
1 Re Focus on what is within your control
Worrying about what is happening in the news is an example of what is ‘outside of our control’ and is distorted by the media to scare us. Our brains are hard wired to look out for danger and they play on this to keep us watching and seeing their ads.
Practice letting go of the need to know!
2 Practice getting and staying in the moment
All of our happiest times are when we are in the present moment enjoying our thing. Our challenge is to catch ourselves when our mind wanders or worries as it will and re direct our thoughts, our mind back to this moment, continually throughout our day.
Result is our stress, anxiety and overwhelm disappear as our feelings of joy kicks back in by being present, in this very moment!!
Practice and practice as you get used to the joyful feelings as a more normal way of being.
3 Re frame those negative self-defeating thoughts
We have thousands of thoughts every day (an average of 60k for women 40k for men). 95% are going to be the same every day!! And most (75% ) are negative.
So you can see we are hard wired again for survival. I don’t know about you, but I am over just surviving and want to know about thriving!
Here is how. Again catch your thoughts of I can’t, It won’t work, I’m not good enough etc etc and reframe them to how you want to be and feel. Eg: I can, it is going to work out, I’ve got this etc. As our feelings will create our experiences. Good or Bad. You choose!
Love to hear your thoughts and challenges.
Derek :)
